Our inspiration
The Founder-Chairman of the MCKV Group of Institutions, Shri Shyam Sunder Kejriwal (11 February 1931 – 30 December 2019), was a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist who firmly believed that India’s progress as a modern, prosperous, self-reliant, and forwardlooking nation depended upon the creation of an informed, enlightened, and educated citizenry. Guided by this conviction, he established the M. C. Kejriwal Charity Trust in 1976 in fond memory of his grandfather, the late Shri Mirzamal Kejriwal, and his father, the late Shri Chhaganlal Kejriwal. The Trust was conceived as a vehicle for advancing educational and social development through institutions of excellence. Its first educational venture, M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth, founded by Shri S. S. Kejriwal in 1997, rapidly earned a reputation for academic excellence and holistic development, culminating in its recognition as the 3rd-ranked boys’ school in India and 1st ranked boys’ West Bengal in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2021.
Driven by an unwavering commitment to education, Shri S. S. Kejriwal went on to establish several other institutions under the MCKV umbrella, including MCKV Institute of Engineering in Howrah, Madhusthali Vidyapeeth (a coeducational residential-cum-day school),Madhusthali Institute of Teacher Training, and Madhusthali Institute of Paramedical Sciences in Madhupur, Jharkhand. Deeply concerned about the growing impact of modern lifestyles on public health and well-being, he also expanded his philanthropic efforts into healthcare through the establishment of MCKV Health and Medicare in Liluah, Howrah. In addition, he continued to support the hospital in Ramgarh, Rajasthan, founded by his father, the late Shri Chhaganlal Kejriwal. Beyond his leadership of the MCKV Group of Institutions, Shri S. S. Kejriwal served as a trustee and board member of several respected educational, charitable, and social institutions in Kolkata and Howrah, leaving behind a legacy of service, institution-building, and nation-building that continues to inspire generations.
